The impact you will have:
Are you a detail-oriented professional, who thrives on tackling technical accounting challenges? As the Revenue Accountant Analyst you will be the subject matter expert for Softchoice’s (“the Company”) revenue operations and compliance requirements. You will be responsible for the rigorous governance over revenue operations and accounting, including maintaining effective internal controls for all revenue streams. Leveraging your technical expertise and understanding of the Company, you will also spearhead initiatives aimed at continuous improvement of systems and processes with an eye on efficient and accurate revenue accounting and reporting.
This role is hybrid with the expectation of working in our Toronto office 2-3 times per month.
What you’ll do:
- Responsible for the revenue recognition month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial results;
- Conduct and prepare thorough relevant analysis to ensure the proper revenue recognition of product and services related sales and ensure related transactions are correctly reflected in the ERP system;
- Responsible for reviewing contract terms and conditions, researching accounting guidance and determining the appropriate accounting treatment for significant arrangements;
- Share responsibility for the accuracy and integrity of revenues, and assist in the timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue internal and Worldwide Technology (“WWT”), parent company, reporting and analysis;
- Prepare and analyze monthly results and develop insightful analysis and commentary on business performance vs Plan and Forecasts;
- Assess and draft technical memos for relevant new pronouncements;
- Maintain revenue accounting principles, practices, and procedures to ensure compliance with US GAAP and internal controls over financial reporting;
- Work with key business stakeholders to ensure compliance with key internal control and accounting standard requirements;
- Foster proactive cross-functional relationships within and outside of the Finance department including Sales, Business Development and Fulfillment;
- Perform assigned account reconciliations;
- Document and maintain existing reporting procedures;
- Support internal reporting FP&A team to help answer why’s and any help with planning and forecast
- Work closely with the external audit team regarding reporting and audit requirements; and
- Ad-hoc projects as required.
What you’ll bring to the table:
- 5+ yeas of revenue accounting experience
- Big four or equivalent experience, technology industry experience an asset
- CPA required
- Advanced Excel experience required
- Strong IFRS 15 and/or ASC 606 technical accounting background and the ability to synthesize and analyze complex accounting standards and draft accounting policy required
- US GAAP experience is an asset
- Able to research accounting guidance and determine the appropriate accounting treatment on an ad hoc basis for special transactions
- Experience automating and improving existing finance and revenue processes
- Power BI (PBI) Reporting & Dashboard Development experience is an asset
- Hands-on experience with SAP RAR module is an asset
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Superior attention to detail and commitment to high-quality, accurate work
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
Compensation:
A reasonable estimate of the current base pay range for this position in Ontario is $69,000 to $93,000 annually + 8% Target Incentives.
Actual salary will be based on a variety of factors, including location, experience, skill set, education, and related certification. The range for this position in other geographic locations may differ.
