The impact you will have:
Are you an MBA or CPA with management reporting experience or with technology industry experience looking for new challenges at a high growth public company?  If so, this may be the perfect job for you!  As a leading technology solutions provider, the opportunities for you to grow your knowledge base in the technology sector and apply your continuous improvement mindset at Softchoice are limitless.

As the owner of the consolidated internal financial reporting deliverables, you will be required to work with various stakeholders across the business, to ensure the results are accurately presented to both internal and external stakeholders and reflect the business operations in the period.  You have impeccable organizational and time management skills, as well as an ability to work effectively under pressure to ensure the ongoing timely and accurate delivery of all requisite financial reporting requirements to key internal and external stakeholders.  You pride yourself on your strong attention to detail and sense of responsibility around the accuracy and quality of your deliverables.  You are confident working through ambiguity and complexity and have a keen analytical sense for seeing the big picture through the “weeds”, and presenting it concisely.

Softchoice offers a culture that embodies both progressiveness and professionalism that sets itself apart from others in the industry - if you believe the above characteristics describe you well, we think you would be a good fit and want to hear from you.

What you’ll do:

  • Full ownership of internal management reporting cycle (monthly, quarterly and ad hoc internal reporting packages).
  • Develop and distribute monthly and quarterly internal management reporting packages to the executive leadership and board of directors.
  • Drive continuous improvement in the quality of the various financial packages in collaboration with senior Finance staff, leadership team, and key stakeholders, with a lens on clarity, conciseness and consistency.
  • In analyzing operating results, highlight areas for improvement and make recommendations to senior management.
  • Provide meaningful insights to key stakeholders from what may appear to be disparate datapoints and financial results.
  • Initiate, develop, and maintain effective relationships with key internal business partners.
  • Partner with key business leaders to draw out meaningful insights, while providing financial expertise and recommendations, in order to drive informed business decisions and actions.
  • Evaluate profitability of business units, products, and customers to identify actions to improve overall business results.
  • Develop, implement, monitor, and report on key business performance indicators.
  • Monthly variance analysis to plan, forecast and prior year.
  • Occasionally mentor and coach accounting and finance personnel.
  • Requires some extended hours during month-end, quarter-end, and year-end.
  • The role is of high visibility with senior leadership and the executive team, and requires demonstrating critical thinking and collaboration skills.
  • The role requires the ability to tailor communication and presentations for various purposes and audiences.

Please note: This role is hybrid with an expectation of working in the Toronto office 1-3 times per month.

What you’ll bring to the table:

  • 7+ years of finance experience with 4+ years of relevant progressive experience in a financial reporting or management reporting role (technology industry an asset)
  • Achievement orientation: high drive to produce accurate and quality deliverables
  • Strong communication skills (oral and written).  Ability to draw insightful conclusions from financial data and “tell the story” through presentations (slides, verbally) to key stakeholders a must
  • Excellent PowerPoint & Excel skills and attention to detail.  Working with large sets of data and creating meaningful and accurate reports is a strength of yours, while continuously looking for ways to bring automation to reporting
  • Ability to think critically and independently problem solve through ambiguity and/or complexity
