As a pivotal member of our team, you’ll be empowering our federal clients to deliver on their mandates and provide value to Canadians, by helping create integrated, comprehensive security solutions, leveraging on the capabilities of the industry’s leading software and hardware security providers.  

This role demands senior pre-sales experience and a proven ability to clarify complex challenges. You will be instrumental in shaping business cases that result in reduced operational costs, improved security postures, and strengthened compliance — while mapping out practical roadmaps that drive commitment, execution, and adoption.

What you will do:

 

This is a high-impact role requiring equal parts technical depth, business consulting, and excellent client communication.  

  • With a services lead approach, work with client-facing account teams to identify and understand client problems, map the client’s target outcomes to strategies and potential solutions, orchestrate virtual teams (presales architects, delivery, partners, and others) and build business cases, success metrics and adoption plans for measurable impact  
  • Work alongside colleagues with expertise in data & AI, infrastructure, networking, and cloud computing, to lead efforts to provide comprehensive cyber security solutions across multiple solution areas. 
  • Facilitate client conversations, at all levels of their organization, to enhance client understanding of cyber security and align clients to specific security initiatives. 
  • Guide clients in defining security operations best practices and efficiencies.  
  • Deliver presentations to clients including technical design workshops, whiteboard sessions, product demonstrations and similar events designed to highlight both technical and business value. 
  • Align with key partners including Microsoft, Cisco, and other complimentary OEMs to deliver workshops, and secure customer incentives, and POV funding, that support the client-facing account teams.   
  • Own and manage end-to-end processes involved in proof-of-value programs including scope and success criteria definition, setup, deployment, and executive presentation. Ensure clients and partners gain measurable value during evaluations. 
  • Actively participate in defining and developing both SOWs and RFP response documents.   
  • Invest time in staying current with industry developments and broadening your technical skillset. 
  • Represent the company at trade shows, in webinars, and at executive briefings to strengthen market awareness and further build credibility. 
  • Support the sales teams in maintaining accurate Salesforce hygiene.   

 

What you bring to the table:

 

You have 10 or more years of demonstrated success in delivering cyber security solutions and technologies. This includes a proven track record in selling multi-vendor integrated solutions and professional services. This experience includes 7 or more years of experience working directly with the Canadian federal government. 

 

Professional Experience  

  • Strong leadership to guide technical discussions and an ability to use your imagination to articulate high-value strategies and solutions for clients.  
  • Deep knowledge of cyber security solution architecture, design, and implementation across multiple domains including networking, infrastructure, end-user compute, and cloud, to identify business needs and determine solutions to business problems, process improvements, organizational change, or strategic planning and policy development. 
  • You can translate executive-level objectives—such as compliance, security operations, risk, and customer/employee experience—into a well-structured security platform roadmap and adoption plan.  
  • You have demonstrable ability to successfully collaborate with internal teams and OEM partners. You have a track-record of being committed to the success of your clients, colleagues, and OEM partners, and you are proactive about, and accountable for, achieving successful results.  
  • You must have exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with an emphasis on communicating complex technical issues to technical and non-technical audiences. Professionalism, confidence, good analytical and presentation skills, and strong time management are vital.  
  • You actively share your knowledge of the account(s) with the rest of the account team and other colleagues, and you contribute to the account planning process and opportunity review process.

Cyber Security Technical Expertise  

  • The successful candidate will bring a broad-based technical skill set to this high-impact role. This includes an understanding security infrastructure and layers, including endpoint, network, identity, and cloud solutions as well as security operation, and both knowledge and experience with how these solutions integrate and support zero trust framework design and implementation. 

 

To be successful in this role you have intimate knowledge of, and hands-on experience with, many of the vendor solutions that are of interest to our clients, as well as the competitive position of each, including strengths and weaknesses. Our leading technology partners and solutions include: 

  • Microsoft Sentinel, all Defender Workloads, Entra ID, Purview, Copilot for Security. 
  • Cisco Security Suites: User Protection, Cloud Protection, and Breach Protection, incorporating products such as Cisco Duo, Umbrella, Identity Services Engine (ISE), Secure Firewall, and Cisco XDR. 
  • Palo Alto Networks: Network Security, Cloud Security, and Security Operations (Cortex) platforms. 
  • Other partners we work with include CrowdStrike, SentinelOne, Fortinet, Sophos Zscaler, Wiz, CyberArk, RSA, F5, and Proofpoint. 
  • The successful candidate will have solid knowledge of emerging products, services, protocols, and standards in the cyber security domain, and broad knowledge and understanding of the design of cyber-attacks, detection engineering, and incident response. 

 

Technical Certifications 
 

  • As a demonstration of your knowledge and skill, you currently have, or you are actively working towards, obtaining industry recognized certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or OSCP. 

 

General Information 

  • Ottawa-based candidates are strongly preferred.  
  • Softchoice currently functions in a hybrid work environment. You must be able to work on-site at our office in downtown Ottawa, or at the offices of federal clients and OEM partners in the region. On occasion, you will need to work outside of typical business hours.  
  • Occasional travel may be required, including to the USA. 
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset.  
  • You must either hold, or be eligible for, a Secret Level II Canadian federal security clearance. 

 

Compensation:

 

Corporate/Pay Mix: A reasonable estimate of the current base pay range for this position in Ontario is $115,000 - $155,000.

 

Actual salary will be based on a variety of factors, including location, experience, skill set, education, and related certification. The range for this position in other geographic locations may differ.
